Keep Warm and Dry No Matter How Bad the Weather

Oh come on, how bad could the weather get in the UK after all. Well apparently it gets chilly enough to keep one of the UK’s biggest retailers of wool products, Woolovers Knitwear, quite comfortably in business.

You Don’t Wanna Go Out There

Of course this doesn’t represent the norm, but some of the coldest recorded temperatures in UK history took place in the final months of past years. Temperatures as low as -17° F (-27° C), -15° F (-26° C) and        -1.5° F (-18.6° C) have been some extreme lows since 1982. That translates into a lot of pullovers, sweatshirts, jerseys, scarves, knit caps any other wool product people could possibly get their hands on. Speaking of hands, mittens were probably a good deal as well.

Wool Is The Way To Go

I learned many, many years ago, while deer hunting, that wool was the absolute way to go in cold temperatures. We were all sure to wear wool because once it gets wet it does not necessarily translate into cold, frozen hands, feet and so on. Cottons and other fabrics on the other hand, once wet, can become so cold as to even freeze.

The UK can indeed be grateful for Woolovers knitwear.

Safe Driving in Killer Weather

Bad weather can be really hard to drive in. Slick roads, snow, and even fog can be really hazardous to drive in, and also really stress-full. People on the roads might not be that great at driving in these types of conditions.

Ways to get safe

One thing you can do is get yourself fully insured when on the road. Full coverage insurance can mean a great deal, especially to those of us that aren’t the best drivers in snow or other harsh ailments. Get yourself a few car insurance quotes, so you know where you stand. The quotes will give you the difference you need to come up with for additional insurance.

Getting yourself some really good tires

Tires make a huge difference on the road. Good tires mean you stay on the road rather than slide off. If the snow and ice is really bad, it might be time for studded snow tires. You have to think about these things, because you might only deal with a month of winter. Take a good look at your budget to see what you can afford.

Always drive slow, and watch for the other driver when on the road. That might save you from being in a ditch.
